Salvatore  Piro

Salvatore Piro received a degree in Physics (Geophysics) from the La Sapienza University, Rome, Italy, in 1979. Between 1981 and 1984, he was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Technologies Applied to Cultural Heritage (CNR—National Research Council, Italy) where he developed the acquisition, elaboration, and interpretation techniques for archaeological prospection employing magnetic, geoelectric, and ground-penetrating radar methods. Between 1984 and 1995, he was a confirmed Researcher, and since 1995, he has been a Senior Scientist in the same institute. Since 2002, he has been a Professor of Geophysics for Archaeology at the La Sapienza University. His research interests include the acquisition and processing of integrated geophysical methods for near-surface investigations. He is a member of SEG, EAGE, EGU, EEGS, and ISAP. He is also an Associate Editor of Near Surface Geophysics and Archaeological Prospection.
