Claudio Strobbia is Senior Research Geophysicist in the WesternGeco-Schlumberger MENA Technology Center, in Cairo, Egypt.
Dr Strobbia graduated in Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Torino and received a PhD degree in applied geophysics from the same institution, with a thesis on surface waves for geotechnical site characterization.
He moved to the European Centre for Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering (EUCENTRE) in Pavia, Italy, as a researcher in engineering seismology and geotechnical earthquake engineering, and he has been a lecturer at the University of Milan, Bicocca. He joined Schlumberger in 2007 as a research geophysicist.
He worked in the London Technology Center, London, UK, and in the Cairo Technology Center, Egypt. His primary research interest is the near surface characterization with seismic methods, and in particular the application of surface waves methods to land and seabed three-dimensional exploration data.
Other research interests include the model based coherent noise attenuation for direct and scattered noise, joint inversion, and land seismic data processing.
