David  Daniels

 David Daniels pioneered the design and development of ground-penetrating radar and ultra-wideband radar in the UK  and has published a  number of books on GPR (one awarded the IEE Rayleigh Book Award) as well as contributing to a  number of seminal reference books in the field, including a contribution to Skolnik’s Radar Handbook 3rd Edition. He  authored 'EM Detection of Concealed Targets', which was published by Wiley in 2009 and covers sensor systems for the  detection of landmines, IED, concealed devices, and other difficult-to-detect targets. He became a Fellow of the  Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers in 2010 for his international contribution to ground-penetrating radar  and, in 2012, was appointed CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. After a career in industry in applied research, he  joined the University of Manchester, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in October 2014 as a Visiting  Professor and, in October 2015, became a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor. He chaired the European  Radar Conference in 2016. He gained his EASA Private Pilot’s Licence in 2012 and his IR(R) rating in 2014 and has 295  hours of flight experience.
