Giorgio  Cassiani

 Giorgio Cassiani is currently Full Professor of Applied Geophysics in the Department of Geoscience at the University of  Padua, Italy. He graduated in Mining Engineering from the University of Trieste in 1991 and was awarded a PhD in  Applied Geophysics from the same university (1996) and an MSc (1995) and a PhD (1997) in Civil and Environmental  Engineering from Duke University, USA. He worked at OGS Trieste and at ENI-Agip in Milan as an Environmental  Specialist. From 1999 to 2001, he was a Lecturer in Contaminant Hydrogeology at Lancaster University, UK. From 2001  to 2006, he was a Lecturer in Applied Geophysics in the Department of Geological Sciences and Geotechnology at the  University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy. His main research interest is in geophysical methods for environmental applications,  with particular regard to the characterization of contaminated sites, for geotechnical characterization, and for hydro-  logical purposes (hydrogeophysics). He has been Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator in a number of funded  projects at a national level in Italy and the UK, and at an international level, including 4 EU projects of the 7th  Framework Programme.
