Nigel  Cassidy

Nigel Cassidy is Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK and has over 30 years of industrial and academic experience in the engineering, geological, and geophysical sector. He is a Council member of the Geological Society of London and was a Royal Society Industrial Fellow from 2008 to 2012. He started life as an Industrial Electrical Engineer in 1982 before obtaining his BSc degree in Geophysics at the University of Liverpool, UK (1997) and his PhD in the numerical modelling of GPR at Keele University in 2001. His research focuses on the application of physical and geophysical methods for the characterisation of geotechnical, environmental, hydro- and geological phenomena and has specific expertise in numerical modelling, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and electrical/electromagnetic geophysics.
